Saint-Estephe Frank Phelan by Chateau Phelan Segur 2011: The second wine of Château Phélan Ségur offers great value in the bottle, benefiting from his older brother's team in the vineyard and at the winery. This is absolutely classic, old-school Saint Estèphe of excellent quality. Deep, purple-hued, with a nose of mulberries, blackcurrants and cedar, the wine is densely-textured and medium-bodied, with good balancing acidity and a seriously endowed, layered texture. The tannins are present, yet well-integrated and ripe. Alc 13% Grapes: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc

Note: 2011 is a difficult vintage. Average points: 85. Best reds are coming from Pomerol and St. Emilion. It’s a fresh early drinking vintage. More in wine beyond
