Saint Estephe Cos d’Estournel 1996-2nd Growth: Château Cos d'Estournel is a winery in the SaintEstèphe appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. It is also the name of the red wine produced by this property. The wine produced here was classified as one of fifteen Deuxièmes Crus (Second Growths) in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.
Tasting notes: The aromatics capture the wines mature essence with its earthy wet forest floor, tobacco leaf, cigar box and bright red fruits. There is lift in the fruit, coupled with a leafy, red berry assortment in the finish. Alc 13 Grapes: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot
Note: 1996 is a good vintage. Average points: 89. The wines from the Medoc can be stunning where the Cabernet excelled. More in wine beyond
