Marques de Murrieta ‘Castillo Ygay’ Gran Reserva Especial Rioja 2009: Marqués de Murrieta was one of the pioneers in the production of Rioja wines, this bodega was established in 1852 and is proudly old-fashioned in its approach. All the grapes are sourced from the bodega's own vineyards at Ygay near Logroño, which were recently extended to 300ha.
Tasting notes: It has an earthy, spicy nose with baked plum and marzipan, while the palate is silky and rich with redcurrant and raspberry fruit, a touch of forest floor and a fresh, herby finish. Such depth and structure, but still so very young and likely to age very gracefully indeed. Alc 14% Grapes: 81% Tempranillo, 19% Mazuelo
